Has anyone ever done a historical doll project?
I'm going to start one about a girl name Anna in 1812.

Those are so cool!
ETA:
THEY ARE HARD!!!!
you have to find out how they talked back then EI: Slang
You have to find out which names might Have been popular back then
You have to find out what the charecture would wear and use EI: Find/make the right accsessories and clothing.
On top of all of that you have to right a story. Well you don't HAVE too, but things make a lot more sence with a story
Ag spends years doing research on these kinds of things before they right a book and design a doll!
Good luck!

I have been working for the past few years on a Puritan girl project. Her name is Susanna (the ancestor of my Gotz Susanna) and she and her family came from Weymouth, near Boston, to settle "in the wilderness" in what is now Rhode Island, near Providence. STAY TUNED for pictures of Susanna soon and some basic information. It's super hard work but tons of fun!
Eventually I'd like to start working on a Polish immigrant from the early 1900s, because my Gramma keeps telling me all about her mother and stuff. And I'd also love to make an Irish girl from the 1800s someday
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I know I really wanted a 1960s doll, also. I could go ahead and make one myself, I guess. I haven't decided if I want to do 1964-66 or 1963-65, which would include the Kennedy assasination.Quote:

I've had all kinds of ideas for stories, including older twin brother and sister which could show teen girls and a boy possibly getting drafted for Vietnam. Have you seen the show American Dreams? That would be a good reference.
I still have some work to do. Now don't steal any of my ideas!
Question: would it be better to use a doll with or without bangs? I think bangs were really in style then, but I love all the new dolls that have been introduced without bangs.
I also would like to create a Jewish historical, since that is my own heritage. There is a Gali Girl and outfit of a Russian immigrant from 1914. I've been getting a lot of family history lately and it would be interesting to create a character around that.
I suppose that could be a summer project since I didn't get the camp counselor job I wanted. So I'll be taking a class in summer school instead.
